Study:Electronic screens delay child speech development

A new study published Thursday claims that children who use electronic screens may cause a delay in their speech development.

The study showed that children of 6 months to two years who spent more time holding cellphones, tablets and electronic games had a greater risk of developmental issues with their speech.

20% of children use screens for 28 minutes a day on average. Every additional 30 minutes in screentime led to a 49% increase in "expressive speech," according to the study.

No other developmental issues were located in the study.
