Prime Minister Netanyahu spoke at the event marking forty years since the Likud came to power and stated that it was a "watershed event" for Israel which was necessary at the time since there was a "political and social stalemate."

Netanyahu said that the country now is economically and militarily strong and this was the reason for the changes in attitude towards Israel since "Nobody is interested in the weak and nobody makes peace with the weak."

Netanyahu stressed that Israel's secret is the power of its people and its spiritual heritage combined with "entrepeneurism and unending curiosity."
