Police officers summoned to the scene heard noise from a synagogue in Modiin Illit, where they noticed that someone had broken into the synagogue through a window that had been smashed. A number of lockers had been broken into.

Two residents of Netivot were arrested at the time of the incident. The police searched the suspects and found money stolen from the lockers. During their questioning, the suspects connected themselves to the case, and one of them even admitted to another incident in which he broke into a synagogue in the city of Netivot. At the end of the interrogation, the suspects were released to a five-day house arrest under restrictive conditions.
