PA: IDF fires tear gas, rubber bullets in hospital raid

An Israel Defense Forces unit broke into the compound of the government hospital in Ramallah on Thursday morning, according to a Palestinian Authority Ministry of Health report cited by Haaretz. The ministry reported that the force also used smoke grenades against medical staff and patients. The director of the hospital, Dr. Ahmad al-Bitawi, said that the military force spent more than an hour in the hospital compound, adding that the soldiers used violence against the patients and their escorts, and some of the hospitalized children were also injured by inhaling smoke and tear gas.

The ministry said rubber bullets were used but no arrests were made. The IDF said that after an operation near the hospital, stones were thrown at the force from the medical facility, and the force responded with rubber bullets, stun grenades and gas grenades.
