A group of Neturei Karta anti-Zionist activists attacked a couple belonging to the Otzma Yehudit (Jewish Power) movement, traveling with an Israeli flag near Mea She'arim in the Jerusalem neighborhood of Shmuel Hanavi, behind whose vehicle there was a convoy of movement activists. After the attackers tore the flag, some 15 Otzma Yehudit activists confronted the Neturei Karta activists and drove them away.

Otzma Yehudit Chairman Michael Ben-Ari said that "The insult to the Israeli flag is the continuation of the betrayal of a crazy minority who pretend to be haredi, who prefer the PLO flag connected to the haters of Israel." Dr. Ben-Ari warned, "The time has come to teach them that whoever harms the Israeli flag will find Jews who will teach him that the lawlessness is over."
