Speaker of the Knesset Yuli Edelstein told Israel Defense Forces Radio on Thursday "The intention of the new administration in Washington was to announce the transfer of the embassy [from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem at the very beginning of its term, but for reasons that are understood here in our region, they asked the president to wait, to go slowly, and that is what he is doing."
Earlier, Chairman Marc Zell of the Republican Party in Israel used similar words to hint that the government in Jerusalem would prefer the embassy to remain in Tel Aviv.
