Police and the leader of the Jerusalem-based Boyan hasidic sect have agreed that the hasidic bonfire lighting for Lag Baomer in Meron, which throughout the years has been the central lighting, will take place this year on at 1:15 am on Saturday evening/Sunday morning May 13/14 and the police will do everything within their power to prevent desecration of the Sabbath.
Police Commissioner Roni Alshich met with the Admor of Boyan, who asked the police to act to prevent Sabbath desecrations in the police preparations for Lag Baomer events in Meron.
