Deputy Knesset Speaker Yoel Hasson has asked Attorney General Avichai Mendelblit to examine whether there is a conflict of interest in Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu's request to examine postponing the emptying of the ammonia tank in Haifa.

In a letter to Mandelblit, Hasson wrote, "I have examined the suspicion of a serious conflict of interest between the prime minister and his intervention in postponing the emptying of the ammonia tank in Haifa Bay, in light of the personal connection that was exposed between him and the controlling shareholder of Haifa Chemicals, American billionaire Jules Trump." MK Hasson added, "The possibility that under the auspices of 'cronyism' with influential tycoons the government has made such a dramatic decision that ignores the interests of Haifa Bay residents and public health considerations - should keep us awake."
