Following lengthy negotiations, Director-General Shai Babad of the Finance Ministry and Chairman Avi Nissenkorn of the Histadrut Labor Federation  reached agreements that will see 555 employees of the Israel Broadcasting Authority absorbed into the new Kan public broadcasting corporation and another 100 employees will be absorbed into open positions in the civil service.

Workers between the ages of 40 and 50 will either be absorbed into the new corporation or other places in the civil service and those above the age of 50 will get a bridging pension (Pension gishur in Hebrew) with improved conditions. The agreement cancels a general strike that was threatened for Tuesday.
