French presidential candidate Emanuel Macron leads in the election after more than 95 percent of votes have been counted, French Interior Ministry data released on Sunday night found.
After 95.6 percent of votes were counted, Macron led with 23.82 percent of votes, while Marine Le Pen won 21.58 percent of the votes. The two are expected to face off in the second round on May 7.
