A 65-year-old resident of Petach Tikvah who sometimes serves as a cargiver for the elderly faces a hearing in the Petah Tikva Magistrate's Court on Monday after he was arrested for stealing thousands of shekels from an 87-year-old Holocaust survivor.

Acting on a complaint from the survivor that his credit card had disappeared from his wallet several times and that cash withdrawals had been made in the amount of thousands of shekels, police used technology to find video of the caregiver pulling cash from various terminals in banks throughout the city using the elderly's credit card. The suspect confessed to the charges against him and claimed that he used money to pay loan sharks.
