IDF spokesperson and head of Manpower Directorate Moti Almoz said in a radio interview with the Kol Barama station that religious soldiers can continue to serve in the army without compromising their beliefs. He added that the army has no intention at present to establish more mixed gender units.
Almoz also referred to the anti- army demonstrations by the Jerusalem Faction and stated that "the demonstrations did not lead to the release of anyone [jailed for desertion] before their time. On the contrary, our policy is not to release people before they have served their sentence.
