In the wake of increasing Western criticism of the chemical attack in Syria and of Russia's role in supporting the Syrian government's regime, the Kremlin announced Thursday that "Russia's support for Syrian President Bashar Assad is not unconditional." The announcement was made by Dmitry Peskov, a spokesman for Russian president Vladimir Putin in an Associated Press interview.
The Kremlin is also concerned by statements from the American administration that they are considering armed intervention in Syria.
