A senior official in the Egyptian army was quoted by Channel 10 Television as saying on Tuesday that tourist areas in the Sinai Peninsula were "completely safe."
He was responding to an upgraded warning by Israel's Counter-Terrorism Bureau to refrain from visiting the Sinai and for those already there to leave as soon as possible. The source said that the Egyptian army and police were stopping terrorist organizations in northern Sinai.
