Tekoa stone thrower arrested

The Shabak Israel Security Agency announced on Sunday that it was helped by the Israel Defense Forces and the police in arresting 45-year-old Fatah terrorist Ihab Salameh Daoud Alshibat of the Jerusalem-area village of Beit Sahour on February 14th on suspicion of having been involved in terrorist activities in recent weeks in the area around the Judean Jewish community of Tekoa.

Those activities included throwing stones from moving vehicles at Israeli vehicles traveling in the opposite direction. Several of these attacks resulted in damage to the Israeli vehicles. It was also learned that in several cases in which the Israeli vehicles were not damaged, Alshibat would go back and throw stones again. During his arrest, an additional stone was found in his vehicle which, it is believed, was intended for use in a future attack. The vehicle was seized. Stone-throwing at people and/or vehicles, especially from passing cars, has been proven to constitute a tangible risk to life.
