The family of 22-year-old Zohar Katz from Kibbutz Yotvata is calling on Israelis in Peru to donate A+, A- and AB blood Zohar needs to cleanse her body of a virus that attacks the circulatory system. Yediot Ahronot reports she needs 11-20 units a day for a treatment that may take 15 days.

A number of Israelis have already donated but a friend says doctors at the Lima hospital where she is being treated are afraid of the immunizations that Israelis took before they travelled to the South American country. One option is for Peruvian security personnel to donate. Chabad is seeking permission for blood donated in Israel to be rushed to Peru.
