Former prime minister Ehud Barak expressed his support on Sunday for the proposed appointment of Member of Knesset Tzipi Livni (Zionist Union) to be Undersecretary-General at the United Nations. Writing on the Twitter social media, Barak said, "Tzipi Livni at the UN is just good for everyone. Not only influence. Even honor for Israel. Who can be against [that]?"
Referring to the appointment being used to pave the way to the appointment of former Palestinian Authority prime minister Salam Fayyad to be UN peace envoy to Libya, Barak added, "What do we that Fayyad will be sent to Libya? The UN is not 'fake news'."
