Iran has tested a homegrown cruise missile that is capable of carrying nuclear weapons according unspecified intelligence sources cited on Thursday by the German newspaper Die Welt.
The Tehran government has not confirmed the test, news of which came hours after the United States put the Islamic Republic "on notice" for a weekend ballistic missile test and signalled that it could impose new sanctions. A security expert told Die Welt that cruise missiles are not mentioned in any United Nations resolutions that ban work on ballistic missiles capable of carrying nuclear weapons.
