Recent days have seen the completion of a project to raise the height of the fence along the Egyptian border from five meters to eight meters.
New detection technology has also been added. The fence was completed in 2014 but 213 infiltrators managed to get through certain areas the following year. With the last 17 kilometers being raised, the number of infiltrators was reduced to 11 in 2016.
