The Union of Orthodox Jewish Congregations of America, at its 118th Anniversary convention on Sunday in New York, adopted resolutions expressing its positions, which will guide the OU’s programs and policies over the next two years. Marking the 50th anniversary of the reunification of Jerusalem, participants voted, "to undertake all efforts necessary to secure and maintain Jerusalem as the eternal and undivided capital of the State of Israel, including pushing for the United States’ Embassy to be moved from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem. They also approved resolutions promoting support for the synagogue and Jewish unity.
The OU repudiated United Nations Security Council Resolution 2334 which, among other things, refers to Jerusalem and parts of the Biblical homeland as occupied Palestinian territory and said it will strenuously advocate for its revocation. It moved to explore initiatives for fighting Anti-Semitism, specifically in the form of the the Boycott, Divest and Sanctions against Israel movement on collge campuses, calling on all professional academic associations, as well as all institutions of higher learning, to publicly and explicitly reject boycotts, divestment and sanctions.
