French President Francois Hollande opened the Paris Peace Conference, Sunday afternoon by saying, "The two-state solution [for Israel and the Palestinian Authority] upon which the international community is relying is in physical danger because of the proliferation of settlements, political danger because of the weakness of the peace camp and in moral danger because of distrust accumulated between the parties that extremists are exploiting, and indeed because of the terrorists themselves who have always feared the perspective of an Israeli-Palestinian agreement."
Saying, "Our job is to accompany the direct dialogue between the parties and offer incentives," Hollande noted, "There are those who call this conference naive, but it is naive to think that progress will be made without encouragement and initiatives. There are those who are not interested in solution because they are always preparing their own solution."
