The Movement for a Jewish State has petitioned the Supreme Court against the appointment of Israel Defense Forces Spokesman Motti Almoz to head the IDF's Personnel Branch. The petition says, "The conduct of the Brigadier General Almoz as IDF spokesman indicates contempt for the rule of law, the presumption of innocence of an accused in a criminal proceeding, the integrity of the judicial process, the dignity of the army to which he is pledged as IDF spokesman, the feelings of religious citizens and soldiers, and for standing IDF orders."
Regarding the appointment, the petition continues, "In his capacity as head of the Personnel Branch, Brigadier General Almoz will be asked to take on the most sensitive issues relating to the integration of religious soldiers in the army. His conduct and his words reflect an extremist ideology that is expected to increase mistrust and prevent solutions to bring about resolution of such complex issues."
