Despite its vote against Israel at the United Nations Security Council on Friday, the Russian Foreign Ministry issued a statement on Monday that said, "Our experience shows convincingly that the two-state solution is possible to implement only via direct talks between Israel and the Palestinians - without preconditions."
The statement also said, "Russia will continue to work so that such negotiations happen and will be happy to host the talks when they take place."
