Spokesman for the Egyptian foreign ministry, Ahmed Abu Zeid, said last night that Egypt's decision to withdraw the anti-Israel resolution calling on Israel to stop building in Judea and Samaria "was made following talks between President A Sisi and outgoing and incoming Washington officials, and calls from President-elect Trump to the current administration to use its veto power."
Abu Zeid emphasized that Egypt "is obligated to maintain a balanced position, and therefore withdrew the resolution it had proposed for a vote at the Security Council."
"It's important that Egypt maintain the needed balance in its position on the matter of the diplomatic process between Israel and the Palestinians."
