The state will market land for nearly 58,000 housing units by the end of 2016, in what appears to be an upward trend, compared to previous years, according to summary data for real estate in Israel this year, presented by Finance Minister Moshe Kahlon, Thursday, at a real-estate conference in Eilat, according to Channel 2 Television.

Last week, it was reported that the Real Estate Appraisers Association stated that housing prices have jumped an average of 9% per year so the increased marketing for land has not lowered prices. Kahlon said his flagship "occupant price" (Mechir lemishtaken) will bring nearly 65,000 units to market with 27,000 apartments having already been sold to contractors in the program. About 6,000 of the 75,000 registered participants in the program have received a significant discount in the price of a dwelling.
