New security measures at Brussels Airport have been inspired by controls at Ben Gurion Airport, among the most heavily protected airports in the world, according to a Tuesday report by Reuters. The measures follow an attack in March that killed 16 people and injured over 150 in the Brussels departure hall.
Reporting on a summer visit to view the security systems in place at Ben Gurion, Deputy Prime Minister and Security Minister Jan Jambon told the Airports Council International's Security & Crisis Management Special Summit in Brussels on Tuesday that he was impressed especially by how some of the measures were non-intrusive for passengers. "There, security measures are present but not visible all the time." His remarks were in keeping with the summit's theme, “Future-proofing your airport: Knowing and engaging effectively with the new threats, while engaging positively with the travelling customer”
