Lieutenant Colonel Avraham Yitzhaki has been appointed the medical officer of the Israel Defense Forces' Southern Command and will be promoted to the rank of colonel, making him the first member of the Ethiopian-Israeli community to hold that rank.
In a series of IDF promotions announced on Monday, Liron Donel will make the same rise in rank as she becomes the first woman to command a district in the Homefront Command.
