The Committee of Labor, Welfare and Health of the Knesset passed on first reading a bill stipulating that use of the word "retard" is to be substituted with the phrase "man/people with mental developmental disabilities."
According to the bill, the word "retard" should not be used in official contexts due to its common use as an invective.
