European Union leaders are weighing sanctions against supporters of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad's regime if they fail to stop atrocities, according to a draft statement obtained by Agence France Presse that appears to target Russia.
An EU summit opens later on Thursday.The statement says, "The EU is considering all options, including further restrictive measures targeting individuals and entities supporting the regime, should the current atrocities continue."
