Israel will be pressing each and every representative involved in Tuesday's meeting of the United Nations Educational Scientific and Cultural Organization not to pressure Mexico out of its attempts to cancel last Thursday's approval of a resolution denying non-Muslim connections to Jerusalem holy sites. Mexico will also ask for renewed discussion of the matter after its ambassador voted in favor instead of following instructions to abstain.

Israel will be represented at the meeting site despite the fact that the second day of Sukkot is a holiday from work outside of Israel. It is feared that if Mexico's request goes through, it will set a precedent that works against efforts to defuse tensions between Russia and Ukraine.
