Israel’s Mission to the United Nations will open a Condolence Book in memory of former President Shimon Peres. Leaders and diplomats in New York will be invited to express their condolences.
Ambassador Danon expressed sorrow on the passing of the ninth president of the State of Israel and sent condolences to his family:
“Shimon Peres’s life embodied the narrative of the modern State of Israel. From his youth in the diaspora and his emigration to Israel, to his integral fight for our independence and his tireless work on behalf of our country until his very last days.
"Like the Zionist movement itself, Shimon Peres combined a lifetime of endless contributions to the security of the Jewish state, while never losing hope in a bettertomorrow. We will always remember Shimon Peres for imbuing in us a never-ending sense of possibility of an even brighter future for the State of Israel. May his memory be a blessing.”
