Turkey fired some 28,000 teachers and suspended some 9,500 others on suspicions of ties to Fathullah Gulen, the Turkish preacher currently residing in the US whom Erdogan blames for the recent coup.
Since the coup, Turkey has fired or suspended some 100,000 people and arrested or detained some 40,000 people.
