German Chancellor Angela Merkel's party endured a second setback in a state election in two weeks on Sunday, according to projections based on exit polls cited by The Associated Press.
The Social Democrats (SPD) won 21.6 percent of the vote while Merkel's Christian Democratic Party (CDU) won 17.5 percent, down 5.8 percent.
