Researchers from Wolfson Hospital and the Sheba Medical Center have joined scientists from Tel Aviv University and the Center for Cancer Study in Heidelberg, Germany to reveal a mechanism for the spreading of Melanoma and a possible way to stop the deadliest form of skin cancer, according to Haaretz.

Writing in Nature Cell Biology, the research team said "Melanoma originates in the epidermis and becomes metastatic after invasion into the dermis." It continued, "Since the first interaction of melanoma cells with blood vessels occurs in the dermis, our data suggest an opportunity to block melanoma invasion by preventing the formation of the dermal tumour niche."
