Sunday afternoon's rocket attack on the Gaza-area city of Sderot may have interfered with an effort to increase exports of Gaza produce to Israel, according to a Sunday-evening report by Channel 10 Television.
The station reported Israel's Agriculture Ministry is interested in increasing the quantity of vegetables that Gaza farmers will sell to Israel ahead of the Jewish holidays in the fall. This is in line with the feeling that improving the lives of Gazans would dampen their desire to dig tunnels and launch rockets. One Gaza farmer said there was a possibility of doubling or tripling the quantity of vegetables sold.
