An agreement was signed, Tuesday evening, to bring about 20 families from the former northern-Gaza Jewish community of Elei Sinai into a permanent community in Neve Yam, near Haifa.

Elei Sinai was one of 25 Jewish communities in Gaza and northern Samaria which were uprooted by Israel in the Disengagement program of 2005. A number of them were previously exiled when Israel pulled out of the Sinai Peninsula in the 80s.
