Former Prime Minister Ehud Olmert, who was sentenced to eight months in prison for the "Talansky cash envelopes" scandal, hopes to win an appeal by attaching the US ruling of Virginia Governor Bob McDonnell's acquittal to his appeal.
Olmert's case has already been appealed up to the Supreme Court. Prosecutors were reluctant to acquiesce to his request, and asked the courts to reject it.
