Drunk caught riding electric bike, driver's license suspended

On Tuesday, traffic cops caught an electric bicycle rider driving drunk in the Givat Shmuel area. A breathalyzer test revealed that the man was around 5 times as drunk as the legal limit.

The rider, 42 years old, is a resident of Givat Shmuel. He was taken for a hearing at the Traffic Ministry, where his driver's license was suspended for 30 days.

He will be later summoned to court for speeding.

Police have called for authorities to clarify legally whether electric bicycles count as traffic vehicles, with all the regulations and prohibitions that apply.
