Save the Children on Monday said it was looking into Israeli claims that a staff member in Gaza had been recruited by Hamas, according to Agence France Presse. The British-based charity issued a statement that said, "We do take any allegations of this nature very seriously...."

Among the charges placed, last week, against Mohammed Al-Halabi of the World Vision charity's Gaza office was that he recruited an aid worker from Save the Children to join Hamas's military wing, the Ezzedine al-Qassam Brigades, in 2014. The worker was listed as the official Save the Children contact for two programs carried out in 2014 which were worth $1 million and $1.4 million respectively. AFP contacted the man but he declined to make any comment.
