An Israeli official says the Jordanians will have to explain themselves, following an incident last weekend, when an Israeli family that wanted to visit the grave of Aaron the High Priest was asked by Jordanian border officials to hand over all things Jewish - kipot (skullcaps), tefillin (phylacteries) and talit (prayer shawl), as well as religious books - in order to be admitted to the Hashemite kingdom, according to a Sunday-evening report by Channel 2 Television. The incident almost reached diplomatic proportions and Jordan's ambassador was called in for clarication.
A similar situation arose last December, at which time, Jordan stressed it was an isolated incident. Now it appears to be a steady policy.
