The Supreme Court rejected, Sunday, a petition by the Movement for Quality Government for a hearing by all its justices into the appointment of Aryeh Deri to the position of Interior Minister despite his criminal past.

The Movement for Quality Government expressed its regret "at the fact that the three branches of the state: the cabinet, the legislature and the judicial branch allow someone who exploited his public standing and took a bribe to return to serve as Interior Minister, the same position in which he breached the public's trust, and manage the public's interests and funds." It called on the Knesset to wake up and pass laws to keep convicted criminals away from the Knesset and the prime minister's desk.
