Members of Knesset may only make one visit a month to inmates of the Israel Prisons Service, according to a Thursday report by Haaretz. MKs were not told about the regulations, which went into effect at the end of 2015, when Ofra Klinger became head of the Prisons Service, so that the visits would be "proper and balanced".

The policy was revealed, last month, when Knesset member Youssef Jabarin (Joint Arab List) sought to visit arch-terrorist Marwan Barghouti. His visit was not authorized because he had already visited a prisoner.
