The Knesset approved, Tuesday, an amendment to the building-inspection law that will allow work at a construction site to be shut down for 48 hours following an accident that results in death or serious injury.

Under the amendment, the staff of the Economics Ministry's Security Administration will go to a closed-down site, examine safety and enforce safety instructions. If needed, they will use their professional opinion to decide if a closure order should be extended or if additional measures need to be taken.
