The government has unanimously endorsed a bill by Finance Minister Moshe Kahlon to ban the large banks from issuing and handling credit cards, clearing credit transactions and controlling the companies that do so.
The bill is intended to increase competition in the financial market and reduce the concentration of capital in the banking market. It calls for the setting up of an advisory board to make periodic checks of the level of competition in the banking sector.
