A 7 year-old who repeatedly lost consciousness was saved when doctors implanted a temporary pacemaker near his heart in Soroka Hospital, in Be'er Sheva.
Dr. Aviva Levitas, pediatric cardiological expert at Soroka Hospital, commented: "We're talking about a very rare case among children...his pulse was very slow, at 24 beats per minute, with very low blood pressure, ploss loss of consciousness. It's almost certainly cardiomyopathy, which is a muscular disease, which involves the abnormal activity of calciumand potassium tunnels, or sodium...the pacemaker which was placed in the child's heart essentially saved his life, and allowed normal heart activity."
