UK intelligence agencies warned a 5-judge court that the threat of a terror attack on British soil is imminent.

The statement came as security forces defended their right to access private information, when the Privacy International charity blew the whistle on Britain's lack of privacy regulations for the internet.

Citing, section 94 of the Telecommunications Act of 1984, James Eadie QC argues that the powers granted to security agencies have always been used lawfully, as an "essential tool" to meet "increasing" terror threats.

His written argument says: "The threat level currently stands at SEVERE (sic), which means that an attack in the UK is highly likely."
