The Labour, Welfare, and and Health Committee passed, for its first reading, an initiative by MK Yigal Guetta (Shas) which would protect the "weekly day of rest" of any employee, unconditionally.
The bill forbids any employer from mandating an employee or service provider work against his will on his Shabbat, from exacting fines from an employee who refuses to work on Shabbat, or from cancelling his contract on Shabbat.
