In a meeting in the capital of Laos, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi urged US Secretary of State John Kerry to bring the Phillipines to the negotiations table over the disputed South China Sea.

Yi asserted that China and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) had already agreed that the decision should be made in face-to-face talks between the parties. China continues to ignore the July 12 Hague ruling, which rejected China's sovereignty over the South China Sea.
