Senator Bernie Sanders, who ran for the Democratic presidential nomination but lost to Hillary Clinton, spoke Monday night at the Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia and expressed his full backing for Clinton, who he said “must become the next president of the United States.”

“Thank you to the 13 million Americans who voted for the political revolution, giving us 46 percent of the pledged delegates here tonight. And to my delegates: Thank you for all the work you’ve done. I look forward to your votes during the roll call on Tuesday night,” Sanders began his remarks.

“Many here are disappointed. I think it’s fair to say that no one is more disappointed than I am. But take pride in what we've accomplished,” he said, adding, “Together, my friends, we have begun a political revolution to transform America and that revolution – our revolution – continues.”
