"It was the first time I had ever shot a person. A terrorist, but still a person. I was under pressure," explained IDF soldier Elor Azariya, standing as defense witness at his own trial.

Azariya then recalled his commander's reaction, after he shot dead the wounded terrorist. "He screamed at me 'What, are you an idiot?!' He slapped me twice, and screamed 'Why did you do that?!' He interrupts [sic] me, yells at me, and I don't understand why he is responding like this in front of everyone, and he doesn't try to calm me down. I was in shock, because of the event itself, and also because of my commander. "
